Porcelain Crowns (Caps)
Repair, protect, and strengthen the structure of teeth that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. Porcelain crowns match the shape, size, and color of your teeth, giving you a natural, long-lasting beautiful smile.
Your first appointment includes taking several highly accurate impressions that will be used to create a mold for your custom crown. Using the mold we also create a temporary crown which will stay on your tooth for approximately two weeks until your new crown is fabricated by a dental laboratory. While the tooth is numb, Dr. LaFlamme will prepare and shape the tooth to allow for a properly fitting, full coverage restoration. Then your temporary crown is placed with temporary cement, and your bite is checked to ensure you are biting properly.
At your second appointment, the temporary crown is removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown is carefully placed to ensure the spacing and bite are accurate. You will be given care instructions and encouraged to have regular dental visits to check your new crown.
Completely reshape your teeth and smile.Veneers can fix the appearance of severely discolored teeth, teeth that are too small or too large, chipped teeth, and unevenly spaced teeth. A very thin piece of durable, tooth shaped porcelain is custom made to match shape and color and bonded onto the front of your tooth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Your first appointment includes preparing the teeth by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer. An impression of the teeth is taken and the color is chosen by you and Dr. LaFlamme.
At the second visit, your teeth are cleansed with special liquids to achieve a durable bond. Bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and set the bond. You will be given care instructions and encouraged to have regular dental visits to check your new veneers.
Porcelain Fixed Bridges
Replace missing teeth, repair your smile, and prevent your other teeth from drifting. Porcelain fixed bridges are the most popular because they resemble your natural teeth. The bridge consists of two or more crowns that go over the anchoring teeth and are attached to pontics, or artificial teeth, filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth.
Your first appointment includes numbing the teeth and preparing the anchoring teeth by removing a portion of enamel to allow for a crown. Then, highly accurate impressions will be taken to create a mold for your custom bridge. Using the mold, we also create a temporary bridge which will stay on your tooth for approximately several weeks until your new bridge is fabricated by a dental laboratory. Then your temporary bridge is placed with temporary cement, and your bite is checked to ensure you are biting properly.
At the second visit the temporary bridge is removed, and your permanent bridge is carefully checked, adjusted, and cemented to achieve a proper fit. Occasionally, Dr. LaFlamme may only temporarily cement the bridge, allowing your teeth and tissue time to get used to the new bridge. The new bridge will be permanently cemented at a later time. You will be given care instructions and encouraged to have regular dental visits to check your new bridge.
